Iran has warned against a US decision to remove the Mujahedin-e Khalq Organization (MKO) from its blacklist of terrorist organizations, saying it would be another “wrong step” by the US administration.
Spokesman for Iran’s UN mission in New York Alireza Miryousefi made the remark on Thursday, a day after the MKO supporters attacked Iran’s Foreign Ministry Spokesman Ramin Mehmanparast near the United Nations headquarters and in the presence of New York City police.
Mehmanparast and several other Iranian officials were walking to their hotel when they were surrounded and assaulted by supporters of the anti-Iran MKO terrorists.
“This is while the name of this group is to be taken out of the list of US [State Department] terrorist groups and such violent behaviors must be expected of this terrorist sect,” Miryousefi said.
